ScrumKids is a friendly, family-run business, started by two couples with young children, living in the birthplace of the sport itself – Rugby town. When they eagerly looked around for mini rugby classes for their own children they discovered a gap in provision, and the idea of ScrumKids was born.

Stefan de Bruin, a qualified Level 2 coach with the RFU and coach of the first XV at Bilton Grange school alongside neighbour Mark Tovey, a keen sports enthusiast and entrepreneur, realised back in 2013 that they were ideally placed to bring rugby to a new generation of players. Aided by Stef’s wife, Eleanor, a communications specialist and Mark’s wife Clare, a chartered accountant and financial wizard, the idea of ScrumKids was born.
The staggering interest levels led to a swift increase in the number of ScrumKids classes available and ScrumKids franchises have now sprung up as far north as Cumbria. By hand-selecting coaches and starting the process of looking for responsible franchisees with care, the families continue to ensure that the future of ScrumKids is in safe hands.
A lot of hard work has gone into making sure that ScrumKids sessions are fun, interesting, safe and help young children to develop a lifelong love of the game. The first session is a free trial so that you can be sure your child will enjoy it before signing up for a block of classes, and this kind of child-centred, responsible and caring attitude towards business is really the underpinning value behind the whole enterprise.
